Your last line is beautiful. This particular set of influencers doesn’t hold any sway with me, but there are influencers who have influenced me for the better. If, you know, the definition of “Influencer” is someone who influences from a personal platform. (That being said, I just scrolled through the people who influence me on Instagram/Twitter. The majority of them tend to work with or on something bigger — they’re writers or teachers or involved in non-profit organizations. Social media is an outlet for their work them not their only medium. So, are they Influencers with a capital I? Probably not.) I wonder how we get people to fill the void with something more meaningful? How do we offer more meaning? How do we seek it? Questions I was already contemplating, but your post really brought them to the front of my mind today. Thank you.
